Fauna of the Region
Ballena franca austral. (Southern Right Whale)These whales trap plankton and krill as sea water goes through a sort of beard. Between May and December some 600 whales meet in the gulves of the Peninsula of Valdés.
There is a great variety of penguins here but the Magellan's Penguin stands out. The penguins, the sea lions, the elephant seals, the killer whales and the right whales live together in absolute freedom.
