Fauna and Flora
The flora of Mendoza is strongly determined by its climatic characteristics. In the mountains there are mainly bushes and a great variety of flowers. Guanacos, pumas, foxes and birds can be seen in the regions near the Andes. Among the birds, the condor is the most impressive example. In the desert one can also see ferrets and ñandúes.
The variety of birds in Mendoza also includes water birds, there are flamingos. swans and herons.
The condor (Vutur Gryphus) is a characteristic rapacious bird of the area, it is a very big bird, the span of its wings is 3m. The male is characterised by its black plumage, a red crest and a white necklace. The condor nests on the highest rocks, and puts 1 or 2 eggs. Its habitat are the Andes.
