National Park Tierra del Fuego

It covers 63.000 hectares of mountains, lakes, rivers and deep valleys.
The lower parts include lenga forests, ñire and coihue. Near the frontier with Chile the dikes built by the beavers can be admired and with luck and patience one can even see the beavers. It is necessary to stay very still and to be located against the wind in order to be able to see them. The most interesting walk in the park is toward the Bay of Lapataia where one can admire birds or climb the Cerro Pampa Alta or Cerro Cóndor.
The entrance fee to the National Park is $5 and the buses to the park $5 as well. The schedules vary according to the needs of the visitors. There is a tour that takes the whole day, which includes trekking, canoes and asado (barbecue) that costs $70.
